Neshoba Central Elementary School was filled with patriotism last week when U.S. Marine Austin Anderson surprised his little sister, third-grader Hallie Anderson, after he returned from finishing boot camp at the end of August.

Anderson is preparing for deployment in less than three weeks, although he does not yet know where he is going.

Administrators walked Anderson through the hallways of the school with a long line of elementary school students clapping and waving flags while holding up signs that read such sayings as “Thank you for your service!” The applause only grew as Anderson walked further through the hallway.

Hallie Anderson ran through the crowd to hug her brother.

One of the teachers asked her, “Did you have a good day?” Anderson nodded in agreement as she embraced her brother.

The third grade wished Marine Anderson well on his immediate deployment.
