2 new COVID-19 deaths reported in county as cases on decline

Neshoba County has recorded 14 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths in the past week, according to the Mississippi State Department of Health’s Nov. 2 report.

Neshoba County has now recorded a total of 6,670 cases of COVID-19 and 208 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians reported no new positive cases of COVID-19 and no new deaths in the past week as of Nov. 1, with the total number of positive cases for the Tribe still standing at 2,468 with 123 deaths. The Tribe reported five new hospitalizations in the past week.

Neshoba Central Elementary School reported between one and five positive COVID-19 cases during the week of Oct. 22. No students or staff have been quarantined.

As of Nov. 2, 28% of Neshoba County’s population is fully vaccinated, and 32% of the population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to MSDH.

Vaccinations are being administered at Walmart at 1002 W. Beacon St., Philadelphia, and Walgreens at 1005 W. Beacon Street in Philadelphia, according to the MSDH.

Statewide, since the pandemic began in March 2020, 289,699 confirmed COVID-19 cases have been recorded by the MSDH along with 215,267 probable cases, totaling 505,266 cases. There have been 6,780 confirmed COVID-19 deaths, along with 3,349 probable deaths, totaling 10,129 deaths.
