Two suspects are in custody as law enforcement officials continue to investigate and seek other suspects involved in the burglary of a jewelry store last week.

Philadelphia Police Chief Eric Lyons has identified the suspects in custody as Tony McIntosh and Norman Dwight McKinney.

“The investigation continues in this case and more arrests are possible,” Lyons said.

McIntosh, 48, 1033 Road 298, Union, was arrested and charged with burglary. McIntosh also has a failure to appear warrant out from the Neshoba County Sheriff’s Department, officials said.

McKinney, 27, 473 Myrtle Street, was arrested and charged with burglary.

He was also charged earlier as an alleged accomplice in connection with an inmate who briefly escaped SO custody.

Lyons said Philadelphia Police Officers were approached on Main Street at about 4 a.m on April 28 by a vehicle occupied by two individuals advising of a possible burglary at Valley View Shopping Center.

The individuals reported seeing a black male running from the scene, Lyons said.

Officers arrived at the business, Sides Jewelry, 584 Main St., and observed the front door glass had been shattered and there was no power to the building.

As officers cleared the building and searched the area for a possible suspect, Lyons said, a white male subject arrived and stated that he lived a block away and heard the glass break. The vehicle that initially notified officers also arrived at the shopping center and gave officers a cell phone that they said “belonged to the burglar.” They advised that the phone was found outside their residence a block away from the shopping center.

According to Lyons, surveillance cameras from the area showed an individual disabling the power to the building prior to breaking the glass and making entry.

Officers identified the owner of the phone as McIntosh, who was later picked up at a residence on Highway 482 and brought back to the Police Department, Lyons said. Mckinney would be arrested later that day. Further investigation identified Mckinney as the male who approached officers at the scene and stated he heard the glass break.

Officers determined that McIntosh and McKinney are believed to have burglarized the business, Lyons said. Officers suspect that all individuals including the two who reported the burglary knew each other and had knowledge of the burglary.

An undisclosed amount of jewelry was taken from the business and has yet to be recovered. McIntosh and McKinney were both booked at the Winston County Jail.
