A traffic stop by Neshoba County Sheriff’s deputies at Byrd Avenue and Rea Street led to the arrest of two locals for possession of drugs and traffic violations on Sunday.

Janiya Edwards, 20, of 10261 Road 763, was arrested and charged with two counts of contempt of court, one count of possession of a controlled substance and two counts of disobeying a traffic control device.

Gavin Grady, 38, of 10520 Road 747, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

Edwards was driving a Tan Chevy Tahoe and was stopped for disobeying a traffic control device near the intersection of Byrd Avenue and Rea Street, Sheriff Eric Clark said. Clark said that the controlled substance is marijuana.

Jail records show that Grady bonded out around 6:40 a.m. on $10,000 in bond on Aug. 1.

Edwards remains in the Neshoba County Detention Center.
