Two juveniles were arrested with guns at a Neshoba Central junior high football game on Monday evening, the authorities said.

Jacarey Clemons, 16, of 611 Christine Street, was arrested and charged as an adult with possession of a stolen handgun and possession of a firearm on school property and resisting arrest, Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said in a news release.

Clemons is currently out on felony bond on aggravated assault charges, Clark said. Clemons is being held in the Neshoba County Detention Center awaiting an initial appearance before a Justice Court Judge. Clark said Clemons is being charged as an adult as he has been previously charged with aggravated assault by Philadelphia Police.

A second juvenile is being detained in a Juvenile Detention Facility per Neshoba County Youth Court Judge, Clark said.

The arrests stem from an incident reported on Monday, September 19, when a Neshoba County School Resource Officer detained four suspicious male subjects behind the concession stand at the football stadium entrance on the Neshoba Central campus.

The officer was on duty when he noticed four student-aged males coming from the woods adjacent to the football field, Clark said.

“The officer observed the juveniles as they emerged from the woods and made their way through the darkness towards the stadium entrance area,” Clark said. “Neshoba Central Junior High was hosting Newton County in Jr. High Football games when the event occurred.”

Clark said the call for assistance came around 7:20 p.m. as the SRO confronted the students.

The SRO noticed a bulge around the waistband of one of the students.

Upon examination, it was revealed to be a handgun under his shirt. The officer attempted to gain control of the handgun as the juvenile began to resist.

Security and school administrators assisted as law enforcement responded. Philadelphia Police and Neshoba County patrol units responded to the call for assistance.

Two handguns were recovered from the students, a Smith & Wesson .9mm and a Springfield XD9 .9mm. The Springfield had been reported stolen from Yalobusha County, Clark said. The Springfield held an extended magazine that would hold in excess of 25 rounds of ammunition.

“Public Safety is the top priority of Neshoba County Sheriff’s Office,” Clark said. “Our deputies proudly serve Neshoba County’s diverse community with enthusiasm. We serve with pride and honor and always perform to the highest level of public service.”
