A Clarksdale woman was fatally injured in a one-vehicle accident in the Good Hope community Sunday evening that split the vehicle in two and left the driver injured.

Tosha Leanne Farmer, 40, of Clarksdale was ejected from the vehicle nearly 50 yards and fatally injured, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol. The driver, William McKinney, 26, of Philadelphia suffered “moderate injury,” officials said.

MHP spokesman Andy West said that they received a call at about 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25 on Highway 485.

A 2006 Honda Civic was being driven northbound when the vehicle began to go off the road on the right-hand side and overcorrected, officials said, traveling off of the roadway on the left side hitting a tree and then a utility pole.

Hitting the utility pole split the vehicle in half. The vehicle came to rest in a nearby yard close to the driveway of a home.

The report says that neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt.

Neshoba County Sheriff Eric Clark said that his office responded to the call as well with the MHP being the investigating agency.
