Claude 'Jack' Peebles Jr.

Services for Mr. Claude "Jack" Peebles Jr. was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 1, 2014, at John E. Stephens Chapel with the Rev. John Stephens officiating. Interment was in Spring Creek Cemetery with military honors. John E. Stephens Chapel Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Peebles, 88, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014, at Neshoba General Hospital. He lived in the Deemer Community most of his life and was a U.S. Army veteran.

He received the Purple Heart and was a member of Blue Devils of WWII. Mr. Peebles retired from I.C.G. Railroad as section foreman. His hobbies included railroading and fishing. He was a member of Southside United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Peebles Sr. and Roberta Ray Peebles; wife, Helen Coats Peebles (1996); six sisters, Hazel Ladd, Jay Carter, Pauline Smith, Jane Carter, Alma Eakes and Dorothy Brantley; brothers, Cecil Peebles, Edward Peebles, James Peebles; Henry Peebles and Dan Peebles; and grandson, Noah Grant Robinson.

Mr. Peebles is survived by daughters, Claudette McMichael (Robert) of Philadelphia, M. Teresa Peebles of Birmingham, Ala., Patti Peebles of Philadelphia, Donna Peebles of Philadelphia and Kem Robinson (George) of Philadelphia; sisters, Otazell Adams of Meridian, Velma "Bill" Morris of Philadelphia and Zelma "Tut" Henley of Philadelphia; five grandchildren, Tiffany McMichael, Aimee McMichael Mason (B.J.), Susie Hannah Williams, Taylor Robinson and Austin Robinson; four great-grandchildren Breanna Farhood, Brandon Farhood, Mason Hartness Bass and Brody Cole Mason; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Robert McMichael, George Robinson, B.J. Mason, Taylor Robinson, Austin Robinson, Tommy Waddell, David Henley and Sid Peacock. Honorary pallbearers are Purple Heart comrades.
