By STEVE SWOGETINSKY
Sports Editor

The Union Lady Yellowjacket fast-pitch team picked up its first win of the season in a 2-1 decision over Sebastopol on Saturday.

Now they enter the week hoping to build momentum with three games in the Kosciusko tournament. The Lady Yellowjackets were to play Philadelphia on Monday and Choctaw Central and Kosciusko on Tuesday.

"It was good to get a win," Coach Jacob Casey said. "We have to keep working hard and trying to get better.

"We are playing good competition now and trying to get ready for our region schedule."

Last week, the Lady Yellowjackets dropped a 13-2 decision to Nanih Waiya. After defeating Sebastopol, they dropped an 11-2 decision to Philadelphia in the second game of the Sebastopol tournament on Saturday.

Union enters the week with a 1-4 record.

The Lady Yellowjackets were tied at 1-1 after three innings in their game with Nanih Waiya. Then the Lady Warriors scored three in the fourth, four in the fifth and three in the sixth to put the game away.

Averi Pender took the loss. Pender, Haley Morgan and Macy Knight all hit a single for Union.

Sebastopol scored its run in the first inning. Union scored one in the fourth and one in the fifth to claim the win.

Anna Rigdon was the winning pitcher. Pender hit a double while Parker Breland and Anna Wright both hit a single.

Philadelphia took the early lead and held on for the win. Union scored one in the second and one in the third. McKenzie Doland led the Lady Yellowjackets with two hits and Cassie Smith added a single.
