4-H contest results
BY MIKE REED

We recently had seven 4-H'ers and one volunteer to attend 4-H Club Congress at Mississippi State University and one 4-H'er and one volunteer to attend the Southeast District 4-H Project Achievement Day at Ellisville. Lindsey Copeland attended Project Achievement Day and participated in photography judging and placed first. She brought three pictures to be judged and then had to judge classes of pictures and give reasons for how she placed those classes. Assisting her in her project was 4-H volunteer Michelle Copeland.

Attending 4-H Club Congress at MSU was 4-H'ers Hannah Turk, Ragan Crawford, Chloe Pinter, Lane Miles, Elizabeth Craft, Brooke Williams, Madison Alford and 4-H volunteer Cindy Craft. The Meats Judging team consisting of Hannah, Ragan, Chloe and Lane placed first and has won a trip to the Western 4-H Roundup to compete in the National 4-H Meats Judging competition in January 2015. Hannah was the high individual in the contest.

In this contest the 4-H'ers had to identify meat cuts by specie, primal, retail and then give the cook method. They also judged six classes and gave oral reasons on two of those classes.

Elizabeth and Brooke participated in the Photography track with Elizabeth placing second. They brought pictures to be judged and then judged several classes giving reasons on some of those classes. During the day of their contest they walked around the MSU campus and practiced taking pictures and having them critiqued.

On the first day of 4-H Club Congress Madison gave a visual presentation in the area of pet care and veterinary science on the subject of "Caring for your Dog". Her visual presentation consisted of a power point presentation.

Congratulations to each of these 4-H'ers. They all did an excellent job and we are proud of them.

UPCOMING EVENTS
