One charged in shooting at club

A Philadelphia man was injured in an early morning shooting last week following an argument outside the Sportsmen's Club, the authorities said.

Kenneth Bobo, 26, of Philadelphia, was struck once in the right leg after getting into an argument outside the club at 1:45 a.m. on Saturday, Police Investigator Fredesz Moore said.

Bobo was arguing with Brian Parker, 31, of Philadelphia, when Parker pulled out a black 9mm handgun and fired once, Moore said.

Parker was charged with aggravated assault.

Bobo was taken to Neshoba County General Hospital where he was treated and later released.

"After the shooting Parker was detained by the club's security until police arrived," Moore said.

This was the second shooting in the city in less than a week.

On Tuesday, May 20, the body of Marquai Kirkland, 22, was found along a gravel road near Northside Park. (See story, page 1)

Samuel Amos, 40, of 521 Valley View Dr., was charged with murder. He was also charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana.

April Brown, 35, of 521 Valley View Dr., was charged on Friday with accessory after the fact.
