Basket Day celebration moved to cultural center

The 16th annual "Basket Day" has been moved to a new location.

The festival honoring the Choctaw weavers and other craftspeople will be held on Saturday, May 3 from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m. at the Chahta Immi Cultural Center off Highway 16 west in the Choctaw Shopping Center, Pearl River.

It will be outside at the museum.

There will be an antique basket show featuring all Southeastern river cane weaving tribes along with the beadworkers and other Choctaw craftsmen selling their baskets, beadwork and many other Choctaw crafts.

No non-native  American items will be sold.

Traditional Choctaw foods will be available to purchase for lunch including fry bread and hominy.

While visiting the festival, visit the beautiful new Choctaw Museum.

Come join for a fun and educational day. Call Lynn Ferguson at 601-656-3776 for more information.
