Neshoba County student receives high academic honor at USM

Samira Nadia Abunemeh of Philadelphia, was inducted into the University of Mississippi's chapter of Phi Kappa Phi in a campus ceremony Oct. 28 at David Nutt Auditorium.

Membership in Phi Kappa Phi is the university's highest academic honor across all disciplines.

Abunemeh is a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College and Croft Institute for International Studies. Listed on the Chancellor's Honor Roll, she is a junior majoring in international studies.

A graduate of Neshoba Central High School, she is the daughter of Hisham and Tammy Abunemeh.

Phi Kappa Phi is the nation's oldest, largest and most selective honor society for all academic disciplines.

Membership is based on a student's sound character and academic standing. Juniors must have completed 72 credit hours and rank in the top 7.5 percent of their class, while seniors and graduate students must rank in the top 10 percent of their class.
