Section of Blackjack Road closed to motorists

Heavy rainfall events during the recent storms have caused significant damage to a section of roadway on Blackjack Road in the Pearl River community.  Construction personnel have been mobilized to assess damage and are developing a repair plan.

Until further notice, Blackjack Road is closed to all thru traffic. The closure is between Division of Schools Drive (BIA Route No. 2248) and the entrance to Geyser Falls Water Theme Park. Detour signage will be posted in the area to direct motorists to North Oswald Road which is the alternate route.

"Please note that this road closure will not affect Geyser Falls or any other tribal facilities," Misty Brescia Dreifuss, director of the Office of Public Information for the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, said.

"Personnel are working diligently to make the necessary repairs.  Blackjack Road will be reopened to through traffic as soon as safe conditions have been restored.

"We thank motorists in advance for their patience and cooperation."
