Choctaw Central eyes soccer playoffs as season ends with winning streak
Sports Editor

The Choctaw Central girls soccer team is riding an 11-game win streak as their season winds down.

The Lady Warriors went 2-0 last week as they defeated Kosciusko 6-0 and Philadelphia 5-2.

Choctaw Central led Kosciusko 4-0 at the half. JasAnnique Steve scored four goals and Robin Routh scored two.

Routh scored three goals and Steve added two in the Lady Warriors' win over Philadelphia.

The Choctaw Central boys dropped a 6-0 decision to Kosciusko and a 5-1 loss to Philadelphia.

The Lady Warriors entered the week with a 14-2 record.

Weather permitting, they are scheduled to play at Southeast Lauderdale on Tuesday, at Clarkdale on Thursday, and at West Point on Friday.

The playoffs start next Tuesday.

The Philadelphia soccer teams are set to take on Clarkdale on Friday, weather permitting.

"We are looking for a field," Philadelphia coach Adam Huddleston said. "We played two games on our field last week and tore it up, and now it is under water. But if our boys beat Clarkdale, we are in the playoffs."

Last year, the Tornadoes made it to the state championship game and Huddleston is hoping they are getting ready to try again.

Philadelphia and Neshoba Central split a pair of games last week.

The Lady Tornadoes won their game 1-0. Madi Trapp scored Philadelphia's goal. The Neshoba Central boys won their game, 5-1.

Neshoba Central has two region games slated this week as they were to visit New Hope on Tuesday and host Starkville on Thursday.
