County supervisors received several funding requests during their Monday meeting as they continue to work on the 2020 budget.

Funding requests came from the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Library, the American Red Cross and the Neshoba County Soil & Water Conservation District.             

Supervisors held a public hearing concerning the real and personal  tax rolls. Two people voiced complaints. Supervisors delayed passing the roll until Monday so they could consider the complaints.

Lee McCall of Neshoba General Hospital discussed a request by the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) for right away access to hospital property while a bridge is being replaced. Supervisors approved the request.

Allen Hardy of Philadelphia Security Insurance met with supervisors, concerning employee benefits for the next fiscal year.

In other matters, supervisors voted to:

• Approve a request for hire for the Emergency Management department;

• Approve the 2020 DUI Grant Acceptance Agreement for the sheriff’s department, totaling $30,160;

• Accept the July 2019 meal log and detailed billing report from the jail;

• Approved personnel position changes in the jail. They also approved the hiring of an employee and the verbal resignation of another;

• Approve a request for an easement of 150 feet for maintenance at the old Ary Cemetery on Road 2814;

• Approve a request from the Neshoba Lake manager for slag, gravel and dirt;

• Approve a road crossing request by the Central Water District at 10260 Road 165;

• Approve the payment of $3,943 to A.E. Boyer for work on Road 832;

• Approve the payment of $28,441 to Crowder Engineering;

• Approve the payment of $168,940 to Magco;

• Approve the payment of $19,272 to Crowder Engineering for construction engineering work;

• Approve the chancery court judge office expenses request;

• Approve a travel request to attend a fire coordinators’ meeting at Lake Tiak o’ Khata on August 14;

• Approve payment of $117,046 and $147,050 for the placement of a E-One Commercial Pumper on a 2020 Freightliner Mw Chassis;

• Authorize the transfer of $3,778 from the code funds to the fire equipment funds;

• Approve a refund of $250 for a canceled date at the Coliseum;

• Approve the employee payroll totaling $235,570 through July 15;

• Approve the employee payroll through July 29, totaling $157,880;

• Approve the elected officials payroll through August 1, totaling $32,635;

• Approve the claims docket and the minutes to earlier meetings;

• Approve a travel request by the purchase clerk to attend a conference in Tupelo October 20-23;

• Receive the purchase clerk’s report; and,

• Approve the request for a ramp at the new East Central Community College Diesel Mechanics building.

Supervisors received an insurance estimate for damage to roofs and county buildings during the April 18 tornadoes.

They discussed whether to replace Veteran Memorial monuments, and whether to continue services at the Linwood Nutrition Center.
