The latest partner in the Relay For Life “Fore A Cure” golf tournament that tees off Thursday at Dancing Rabbit is Choctaw Indian Chief Cyrus Ben.

“We are happy to have him,” said organizer Stan Webb.

They have so far raised more than $43,000 for the American Cancer Society. All proceeds will go for cancer research in the fight to find a cure for the dread disease.

“We raised $50,400 with last year’s tournament,” said Webb, plant manager at Weyerhaeuser. “We may not reach that amount this year but I think we have done pretty good. I am pleased.”

The tournament originated as the Relay For Life fundraiser for Weyerhaeuser.

Last year’s golf tournament was washed out but that doesn’t appear to be the case this year.

The luncheon starts at 11 a.m. at the Dancing Rabbit club house. The golf tournament tees off at 1 p.m.
