The Leake Academy softball team moved two wins closer to winning another district championship.

The Lady Rebels grabbed a pair of district wins last week, beating Starkville 12-0 on Tuesday and Winston Academy 16-4 on Wednesday.

The Lady Rebels improve to 11-4-2 on the year with the two wins. The Lady Rebels will return to action on Monday as they travel to Heritage in Columbus and will travel to Clinton Christin on Tuesday. The Lady Rebels will then host East Rankin on Thursday in a varsity only game and will play in the Jackson Prep Tournament on Saturday

Winston 4

The Lady Rebels banged out 19 hits and took a 12-run win over the Lady Patriots on Wednesday.

After a scoreless first inning, Leake scored three in the second, followed by two in the third and fourth. Winston scored four in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 7-4. But Leake responded with three in the fifth, one in the sixth and five in the seventh.

Jenna Chamblee was 4-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles, three runs scored and six RBIs. Grace Maxey was 4-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and four RBIs. Caroline Jackson was 2-for-6 with a double and three RBIs while Emeri Warren was 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Kristen Walker was 2-for-3 while Emmi Harkins was 2-for-6. Ashley Sith had three walks and scored three runs while Grayci Brantley and Maybry Mayfield each scored two runs apiece.

Walker pitched all seven innings  for the Lady Rebels to pick up the win. She gave up for runs on three hits and seven walks while striking out nine.

Starkville 0

The Lady Rebels needed just four innings to take a run-rule win over Starkville on Tuesday.

Leake scored five in the first, four in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth.

Leake had 13 hits in the contest and were led by Emeri Warren who was 3-for-3 with a double. Savannah Greer was 2-for-2 with a pair of double and two RBIs. Caroline Jackson was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Jenna Chamblee was 2-for-2 and scored two runs. Ashley Smith was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. Grayci Brantley and Grace Maxey each had two RBIs as well. Lynleigh Burt also had a double. 

Kristen Walker pitched 2 1/3 of an inning and gave up one hit and struck out four. Caroline Jackson pitched the last 1 2/3 of an inning and gave up two hits and struck out five.
