Henry and Grace Dabbs spent time this summer in different places doing things each loves.  Henry drove to Alaska with his grandparents, Woody and Mary Lou Dabbs, while Grace went on a mission trip to Honduras with her mother, Jenny Hardy Dabbs and her grandfather, Alan Hardy with members from the Methodist Missions group..

The trip to Alaska began the first week of June and ended the third week of August.  Along the way the trio stopped at Estes Park, Colorado, Glacier National Park, Montana, Banff, Canada, and Ice Fields Parkway, Canada.  They went on to Alaska where they visited Skagaway, Haines, and Seward.  They saw glaciers and went on a whale watching excursion.  A trip to Denali was fascinating with a view from a chartered plane flying around the mountain.  Henry got to do his favorite activities, hiking, fishing, and sightseeing.  This was a great adventure, crammed with so many interesting things.

Grace's adventure involved her fifth medical mission trip to Honduras in Los Nanjos, Santa Cruz de Yojoa, where she worked in the pharmacy and helped see patients.  During her previous trips, she realized how much she liked to help and minister to the people of this poor, isolated section of the world.  Not only do the people lack basic medical care, but they are unable to hear the teachings from the Bible and learn about Jesus Christ. These mission trips helped with these deficiencies.

During her time at the mission, Grace also worked in the clinic with her mother, Jenny Hardy Dabbs, who is also a registered nurse.  She learned nursing skills in a practical setting with actual experience helping her mother. She worked very hard. Jenny said the group saw roughly 1100 patients in four days.  It was no easy task because they had to walk the Honduran mountains to see patients, endure heavy rainstorms, and excessive heat.  They ministered to hundreds of people..  It was a different adventure from Henry's, but it suited Grace perfectly.

This year, Henry is a tenth grader at Leake Acacdemy, while Grace begins her third year of college in a new setting at Samford University in Birmingham.  What amazing adventures these two siblings had.

It has really happened.  Michael Hardy is now a Country Music Awards nominee for Song of the Year, "God's Country."  He wrote the song along with Devin Dawson and Jordan Schmidt.  The CMA show is November 13th live on ABC from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena.  What an honor!  Congratulations!
