The Union High School boys picked up a pair of Region 4-2A victories last week in prep basketball action.

Union improved its record to 19-3 overall and 4-1 in the region. The Yellowjackets defeated Scott Central 63-58 in overtime and Lake 58-42.

The Union girls split a pair of games. They lost a 53-43 decision at Scott Central and bounced back to defeat Lake 43-32.

Union has two games scheduled this week. They were to visit Philadelphia, weather permitting, on Tuesday and visit Stringer on Saturday.

The Yellowjackets led Scott Central 14-10 after the first quarter. They outpointed the 

Rebels 12-7 in the second quarter and led 26-17 at the half. Scott Central came back in the second half to outscore Union 33-24. At the end of regulation, the score was tied at 50-50. The Yellowjackets outscored Scott Central 13-8 in the overtime period to take the win.

J.T. Vance led with 20 points while Jamarcus Jones scored 19 and P.J. Gage scored 14.

Against Lake, the Yellowjackets led 33-22 at the half. Union had a 13-12 scoring edge in the third quarter and led 46-34 heading into the fourth quarter where they put the win away.

Gage scored 17 points and Vance put in 13.

 



Lady Yellowjackets

Scott Central took control of the game in the second quarter and went up 25-24 at the half. The Rebels had a 28-25 scoring edge in the second half. Ansley Rigby scored 22 points to lead the Lady Yellowjackets while Kamyia Russell scored 10.

The Lady Yellowjackets bounced back with an 11-point win over Lake.

Union led 27-23 heading into the final quarter. There, the Lady Yellowjackets outscored Lake 16-9 to put the game away. Rigby led with 21 points while Kerirra Russell scored 10.
