The Union Yellowjackets will be going for their second Region 5-2A victory over the season Friday night when they travel to Pisgah to take on the Dragons in prep football action.
Kickoff for this week's game will be at 7 p.m.
The Yellowjackets improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the region standings last week with a 38-14 victory over Leake County. Pisgah comes into the game with a 2-4 overall record. The Dragons lost a 20-14 decision to Lake last week, making them 0-1 in the region standings.
"They played Lake a close game," Union coach Brad Breland said. "They run the ball a lot. They run out of the option and we'll have to contain that."
The Yellowjackets went up 22-8 in the first quarter against Leake County. Laviel Wells scored the first touchdown on a one-yard run. Jesse Gill ran in the two-point conversion and the Yellowjackets led 8-0.
Leake County fought back to tie the game at 8-8. The senior quarterback Jesse Gill connected on a 28-yard TD pass play to Tre Bogan. Gill ran for the two-point conversion and the Rebels took a 16-8 lead.
Later in the quarter, Gill scored on a one-yard run. The extra point was no good and the Yellowjackets led 22-8. Neither team scored in the second quarter, and that's how it stood at the half.
Gill connected with Adrian Campbell in the third quarter on a 35-yard TD pass play. Gill passed to Jake Rawson for the two-point conversion and Union led 30-8.
The Yellowjackets' final score of the night came on a two-yard run by Bogan. James Huddleston scored the two point conversion and Union went up 38-8. Leake County scored late in the game.
"We really did a lot better this week," Breland said. "The offensive line especially played well as a unit."
