Cody Wilson was recently named an assistant football coach at East Central Community College in Decatur.

Wilson serves as tight ends and running backs coach, announced first-year head coach Ken Karcher.

Prior to joining the Warrior staff, Wilson was an assistant coach at his alma mater, Louisiana College in Pineville, La., where he held various positions since 2011, including assistant offensive line coach/strength and conditioning assistant; tight ends coach; and most recently assistant defensive backs coach.

Wilson was a three-year starter on the offensive line for the Louisiana College Wildcats from 2007-2010.

He graduated with a double major from Louisiana College in 2012, earning degrees in mathematics education and applied mathematics with concentration in economics and finance.

Wilson, a native of Kentwood, La., graduated valedictorian from Jewel Sumner High School in 2007, where he was also a standout football player. The four-year letter-winner was an All-State selection and three-time recipient of All-District honors. He was also a Wendy's High School Heisman Top 10 state finalist.

Wilson is the son of Jesse and Tammy W. Strickland and Melanie Wilson, all of Kentwood, La. He is the grandson of Fay W. Simmons of Magnolia, MS and the late Lowell (Whip) Wilson of Kentwood.
