Aspen Wesley had another big week on the mound for the Neshoba Central Lady Rockets fast-pitch softball game.

The Lady Rockets entered this week with a 3-0 record after defeating Newton County 4-1 and Lake High School 7-0. Wesley pitched a one-hitter against Newton County, and then pitched a perfect game against Lake.

That was the first time I had ever seen a perfect game,” Coach Trae Embry said. “She faced 21 batters in seven innings and struck out 21. It was a great effort.”

Wesley struck out 16 batters in the Newton County game. The Lady Rockets scored one in the first and three in the seventh. Newton County scored its run in the first inning.

The Lady Warriors had an 8-1 hitting advantage. Tenly Grisham had two hits and scored two runs. Alexus Lathem had two hits while Reese Page, Elleigh Willis, Wesley and Tori Henderson all had one hit apiece. Wesley knocked in two runs and Henderson knocked in one.



In the Lake game, the Lady Rockets scored three in the first, two in the fifth and two in the sixth.

The Lady Rockets recorded nine hits. Tori Henderson hit a home run and knocked in two runs. Rivers Gray hit a triple and knocked in a run. Wesley had two hits. Tenly Grisham hit a single and knocked in two runs. Latham, Page, Shante Beaulieu and Mya Willis all hit a single.

Weather permitting, the Lady Rockets were to host Madison Central on Tuesday and visit Southeast Lauderdale on Thursday. They will play two games Friday and two games Saturday in the Daphne, Ala., tournament.
