Both Choctaw Central teams went undefeated through the Leake Central tournament this past week in prep basketball action.

The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors remained undefeated as they defeated McAdams 62-27, Choctaw County 53-23, and Leake Central 59-49. The Lady Warriors entered the week with an 8-0 record.

The Choctaw Central opened the tournament with an 81-73 win over McAdams. They then defeated Choctaw County78-38 and closed out the week with a 63-22 win over Leake Central.

The Warrior teams were to host Neshoba Central on Tuesday. On Saturday, both teams are playing in classic games at different sites. The Warriors will travel to Baldwyn to take on Booneville. The Lady Warriors play in the Pearl Classic against Terry. That game starts at 11:30 a.m.

The Warriors fell behind early but fought their way back into the game.

Trailing 16-10 after the first quarter, Choctaw Central outscored McAdams 28-14 in the second quarter to lead 38-30 at the half.

The Warriors outscored McAdams 24-15 and carried a 62-45 lead into the final quarter. McAdams battled back but the Warriors held on for the victory.

William McKinley led with 20 points while Octavious Jones put in 12. Kashden Bell and Treundes Willis both scored 11 points.

Choctaw County 38

The Warriors jumped out to a 27-12 lead in the first quarter as they blew past the Chargers in the second game of the Leake Central tournament.

Choctaw Central led 49-28 at the half.

McKinley led with 19 points while Dillon Farmer put in 13 and Jones added 12.

The Warriors rolled over Leake Central 63-22 to wrap up the tournament victory.

Choctaw Central led 18-13 after the first quarter. From that point, Leake Central would only score nine points in the remaining three quarters.

Jones led with 14 points and Willis scored 13.

Choctaw Central went up 43-18 at the half in its win over McAdams.

Meloney Thames led the Lady Warriors with 11 points while Laliana Crosby, Tia Saunders, Lyleonia Johnson and Ja’Shauntaye Isaac all scored seven points.

After a close first quarter, the Lady Warriors pulled away from the Lady Chargers of Choctaw County.

The score was tied at 12-12 after the first quarter. From that point, Choctaw County would score 11 points the rest of the game and zero points in the fourth quarter. The Lady Warriors scored 18 points in the second quarter and led 30-15 at the half.

Thames led with 11 points and Johnson put in 10.

Leake Central put together a strong second quarter and led the Lady Warriors at the half.

The Lady Gators took a 14-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. Leake Central then outscored Choctaw Central 21-18 in the second quarter and led 35-31 at the half.

Choctaw Central’s defense took over and the Lady Gators would only score 14 points in the final two quarter. Choctaw Central put in 15 points in the third quarter and carried a 44-42 lead into the final quarter. The Lady Warriors then scored 13 points to put the game away

Saunders led with 14 points while Kaedre’ Denson and Thames both followed with 12 points.

“We are still improving but we are really going to be tested this week,” Coach Bill Smith said. “We still have plenty of things to work on.”
