Both teams went 2-0 last week with wins over Union and Humphreys County. The Warrior teams were to host Newton High School Tuesday. Both teams will be playing in the East Central tournament beginning Monday.

"We are playing good defense and that's the key," Warriors Coach Johnny Slaughter said. "We are taking good shots and right now, things are coming together."

Union was to host Neshoba Central Monday night. The Yellowjacket teams will be playing in the East Central tournament starting Monday.

Choctaw Central took the lead in the first half and held on for the victory.

Leading 12-8 at the end of the first quarter, Choctaw Central outscored Union 14-9 in the second quarter to lead 26-17 at the half. The Warriors outscored Union 20-10 in the third quarter to carry a 46-27 lead into the final stanza where they pulled away.

Shechem Grant led Choctaw Central with 17 points while Bryce Billy added 13 points and Tashaun Mingo scored 10. Quinton Campbell scored 23 points to lead Union.

Humphreys County 56

Warriors took the early lead but Humphreys County came back to make a run in the second quarter.

Choctaw Central led 19-6 at the end of the first quarter. The Cowboys put 23 points on the scoreboard during the second quarter while Choctaw Central scored 17, and at the break, Choctaw Central led 36-29.

Choctaw Central retook the momentum in the second half. They outscored Humphreys County 17-11 in the third quarter to carry a 53-40 lead into the final quarter. The Warriors then outscored the Cowboys 24-16 in the final stanza to seal the victory.

Grant scored 18 points to lead the Warriors while Billy added 16. Mingo and Brandon Kennedy both added 12 points.



Lady Warriors 67

Union 43

Union jumped out to a 15-14 lead at the end of the first quarter but then the Lady Warriors took control of the game.

Choctaw Central would outscore the Lady Yellowjackets 26-9 in the second quarter to all but seal the victory. Union fought back but the Lady Warriors pulled away.

Kandace Lasiloo scored 14 points to lead the Lady Warriors while Lattoriah Johnson added 10. Kimmaria Jackson led Union with 14 points.

Choctaw Central led 43-15 at the half and never looked back in their win over Humphreys County in the Clash of the Titans classic at Neshoba Central.

Emily Shoemake led Choctaw Central with 14 points while Lashayla McMillan added 13 and Melody Jimmie scored 10.
