The Choctaw Central Warriors battled hard Friday night but dropped a 28-25 decision to Newton High School in prep football action.

The Warriors, now 0-4, will host the Lake Hornets this Friday night. Lake stands at 3-1. They are coming off a 21-17 win over Pisgah last week.

:They are going to be a tough opponent for us,” Coach Pepper Posey said. “I was really proud of the way our kids played this week against Newton. We fought hard but we made a couple of mistakes at critical times and it cost us.

“We will keep working hard and trying to get better.

Andrew Sockey was in on all three of the Warriors’ touchdowns. He threw a long TD pass to Gerald Isom. Sockey also ran for one touchdown and returned a kickoff for the touchdown.

The game ended in a 22-22 tie when regulation time expired. Graviel Velasco kicked all three extra points. He also kicked a field goal in overtime to put the Warriors up 24-21. But the Tigers came back to score a touchdown and claimed the win.

The Tigers improve to 1-3 on the season. They will host Magee this Friday
