Choctaw Central High School has announced the Warrior players who earned All-Region 5-3A honors from the 2018 football season.

Gerald Isom was voted “Best Offensive Back” in the region. With that honor, he is also a member of the All-Region First team.

Isom, a junior, had 1,920 all-purpose yards and 18 touchdowns during the 2018 season. He was used as a multi-purpose player on offense at running back, receiver and quarterback. He also played on special teams as punter, kick returner and punt returner. Isom was also awarded the title as the best punter in the region. With these district awards, expectations are high for Isom’s upcoming senior campaign.

“We are going to give him every opportunity we can to make him the best player he wants to be through our offseason and summer weight programs, spring training ,and as many football camps we can get him to,” Coach Pepper Posey said.  “I know I want him to be successful. If he (Isom) really wants it, through hard work, he could be tagged as the best or one of the best football players in this area. His talent is phenomenal. He made some unbelievable plays this year. He is my kind of player. He’s a tough competitor who won't back down.

Also voted to the All-Region 5A first team were senior linebacker Keizer Johnson, senior quarterback Andrew Sockey, and senior Jacob Waiter, who was voted all-purpose player  after playing tight end, running back and receiver.

Coach Posey said by losing 11 seniors this spring, there will be a lot of holes to fill.

“We have our work cut out for us for sure now with Choctaw central moving up to the 4A classification this upcoming season,” Posey said.
