Union rolls past Richton into second round

The Union High School baseball team rolled past Richton to advance to the second round of the South State Class 2A playoffs in action last week.
Union defeated Richton 4-2 in game one and then took game two 5-0.
The Yellowjackets, now 13-11 on the season, will meet Enterprise-Lincoln in the second round of the playoffs.
The first game will be played at Enterprise on Thursday with game two set to be at Union on Friday.
A third game, if necessary, will be played at Enterprise on Saturday.
"We played pretty well against Richton," Coach Dustin Hamrick said. "We are getting good pitching and we are hitting the ball. We have to keep that up."
This game was a bit unusual in that it started in Richton and ended in Union.
The power to the lights went out in the sixth inning and the game was suspended until the next day.
Union scored two in the second and two in the sixth. Richton's runs came in the third inning.
Dustin Bates was the winning pitcher.
He recorded 10 strikeouts.
Walker Kelly led with a double and a single while Will Kennedy and Adam Richardson both had two singles.
The Yellowjackets took the early lead and held on for the win.
Union scored three in the first and two in the sixth.
Jake Rawson was the winning pitcher.
He had six strikeouts. Paul White pitched one inning.
Kennedy and Kelly both hit doubles while White had two hits.
Grant Gibbs, Austin Hood, Bates and Ryan Baysinger all had one hit.
