Union rolls over Choctaw Central

The Union High School Yellowjackets improved to 2-0 Friday night as they defeated Choctaw Central 34-6 in prep football actions.
The Yellowjackets will visit Sebastopol Friday night. The Warriors, now 0-2, host Cherokee (N.C.) Friday night in the annual "Battle of Nations" game. Both contests will begin at 7 p.m.
Quarterback Tre Bogan scored twice for Union in the first quarter. He scored his first touchdown on a 20-yard run, and then scored again on a 13-yard run. Bogan scored one two-point conversion and the Yellowjackets led 14-0.
Choctaw Central got on the scoreboard late in the first quarter when Demarcus Wilson ran in from four yards out. The extra point was no good and Union led 14-6 at the end of the first quarter.
The Yellowjackets added two more touchdowns in the second quarter. Laviel Wells intercepted the ball and returned it 30 yards for a touchdown. The extra point try was no good and the Yellowjackets led 20-6. Then Adrian Campbell scored on a 75-yard touchdown pass from Bogan. Bogan passed to Jake Rawson for the two point conversion and the Yellowjackets led 28-6 at the half.
Union put the game on ice in the third quarter when Bogan connected with Rawson on a 15-yard TD pass play.
Bogan finished the night with 85 yards rushing.
Union now looks to its next game with area rival Sebastopol which comes in with a 1-1 record.
"They spread you out," Coach Brad Breland said. "They have three good receivers, but they like to run the ball, too. It should be a good game for us."
Choctaw Central had 138 yards in total offense. Damian Williams led the team in tackles with seven and one fumble recovery. Jeremiah Robinson recovered a fumble.
"We are still developing our offensive line," Coach Troy Savell said. "Until we get that established, we are going to struggle."
