Union powerlifting team claims Class 2A championship

Powered by senior Hunter Little, the Union High School powerlifting team captured the Class 2A state championship Saturday at the State Meet.
Union finished with 50 points in the Class 2A standings. Bruce was second with 32 points followed by Scott Central with 24 points and East Union with 23 points.
The Yellowjackets finished with four first places, three second places, one third place, and two fourth place finish.
Little won the Class 308 division with 1595 pounds lifted. He finished with top lifts of 600 pounds in the squat, 325 in the bench press, and 670 pounds in the deadlift.
Austin Rivers won the Class 242 pound division. He squatted 565 pounds, bench pressed 315 pounds and deadlifted 540 pounds, giving him 1,420 pounds lifted.
Kalen Rogers won the Class 165 pound division with a total of 1,255 pounds lifted. Rogers lifted 485 in the squat, 235 in the deadlift and 535 pounds in the deadlift.
Cody Rogers won the Class 148 pound division with 1,100 pounds lifted. He squatted 390 pounds, bench pressed 205 pounds, and deadlifted 505 pounds.
Eighth grader Tristin Ray placed second in the Class 123 pound division with a total of 765 pounds lifted. Ray squatted 280 pounds, bench pressed 145 pounds and deadlifted 340 pounds.
Jesse Stevens placed second in the Class 181 pound division with 1,235 total pounds lifted. Stevens lifted 480 in the squat, 215 pounds in the bench press and 475 pounds in the deadlift.
Garrett Posey finished second in the Class 220 pound division with 1,275 total pounds lifted. He lifted 505 in the squat, 250 pounds in the bench press and 520 in the deadlift.
Jordan Tatum placed third in the Class 275 pound division with 1,270 pounds lifted. He lifted 490 in the squat, 265 in the bench press and 515 pounds in the deadlift.
Dustin Welborn finished fourth in the Class 198 pound division with 1,170 pounds lifted. Welborn lifted 480 pounds in the squat, 215 pounds in the bench press and 475 pounds in the deadlift.
Gavin Heath placed fourth in the Class 114 pound division with a total of 710 pounds lifted. The eighth grader squatted 275 pounds, bench pressed 130 pounds and dead lifted 350 pounds.
