Union girls working to improve

The Union Lady Yellowjackets will try to get back on the winning track this week as they begin their Region 5-2A schedule.
The Lady Yellowjackets visit Enterprise Thursday for their first region game of the season. They have two non-region games this week as they visit Choctaw Central on Tuesday and Nanih Waiya on Saturday.
Union played three games in the Kosciusko spring tournament last week. They dropped a 14-4 decision to Philadelphia, a 6-0 loss to Choctaw County, and a 5-0 loss to Kosciusko.
"We are just working to get better," Coach Jacob Casey said. "We are improving in each game and are looking forward to our region schedule."
The Lady Tornadoes kept up a steady offensive attack to post the win.
Philadelphia scored one in the first, one in the second, four in the fourth, five in the fifth and three in the sixth. Union scored one in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Averi Pender took the pitching loss.
Pender, Cassie Smith and Macy Knight all had two singles while Lilly Burton added a double.
Choctaw County 6
Union could only muster three hits in their loss to Choctaw County.
Choctaw County scored three in the first, two in the second and one in the third.
Pender took the pitching loss.
Haley Morgan, Keri Ann Mayfield and Macy Knight all hit a single.
The Lady Whippets had a big second inning as they held on to top Union.
Kosciusko scored four in the second and one in the sixth.
Anna Rigdon took the pitching loss.
Knight and Smith had Union's only two hits.
