The Union Lady Yellowjackets put together a couple of big non-region victories Saturday in fast-pitch softball action.

The Lady Yellowjackets defeated Choctaw Central 12-11 thanks to a walk-off three-run home by Ebony Buckley in the bottom of the seventh. Then they came back to best Southeast Lauderdale 11-9. In the only other game last week, Union dropped a 1-0 decision to Clarkdale. Another game with Enterprise was rained out.

"We were able to get things done this weekend," Coach Jacob Casey said. "Those were two very good wins for us."

Union started the week with a 1-0 loss to Clarkdale. The Lady Bulldogs scored one in the third. Union had a 3-2 hitting edge. Averi Pender hit a triple and Haley Morgan added a single.

The Lady Yellowjackets then took a dramatic win over Choctaw Central. Union scored one in the third, three in the fourth and eight in the seventh. Choctaw Central scored two in the first, one in the fourth, six in the fifth, one in the sixth and one in the seventh. Brett Whitlock was the winning pitcher with eight strike outs.

Buckley led the Lady Yellowjackets with a home run and a single while Kristen Kennedy added three hits.

Union then took a big win over Southeast Lauderdale. Union scored four in the first, one in the second, one in the fourth and five in the sixth. The Lady Tigers scored one in the first, four in the third, three in the fourth and one in the seventh. Whitlock was the winning pitcher.

Whitlock helped her own cause with a double and two singles while Kennedy added a triple and a single. Haley Morgan had three hits.
