The Philadelphia Tornadoes hope to get on track the Region 5-3A race this week when they take to the basketball court for a pair of games.

The Tornadoes were to have hosted Southeast Lauderdale Tuesday and then visit Choctaw County on Thursday.

The Tornadoes come into the week with an 8-10 overall record.

They are 0-2 in the region, losing last week to Choctaw Central 45-43 and to Forest 78-66. It was just as long week for the Lady Tornadoes as well as they dropped a 59-43 decision to Choctaw Central, and 50-40 to Forest.

"We had a shot at the buzzer (vs. Choctaw Central) and it bounced in and out," Philadelphia Coach Jason Broom said. "It was a hard-fought game. Against Forest, we got behind early and came close but could never catch up.

"We missed a lot of shots in both games. It's frustrating but we'll try to get on track this week."

Choctaw Central held a 16-15 lead at the half. The Warriors led by two heading into the final quarter and held on until the final buzzer.

Sherman Bufkin scored 18 points to lead the Tornadoes.

Forest led 43-32 at the half and held off a fourth quarter rally by the Tornadoes. Bufkin scored 21 points and Ricky Triplett added 20.

Kenyatta Moore scored 13 points for the Lady Tornadoes in their loss to Choctaw Central.
