Tornadoes host three-night Philadelphia tournament

The Philadelphia High School gym will be a busy place this weekend as the Tornado teams host a three-night tournament starting Thursday.
"We have a good group of teams coming in," Lady Tornadoes coach Pashen Autry said. "We hope people will come out because we are going to have some good games."
The schedule is as follows:
4 p.m. - Morton girls vs. Leake Central
5:30 p.m. - Morton boys vs. Leake Central
7 p.m. - Philadelphia girls vs. Union
8:30 p.m. - Philadelphia boys vs. Union
4 p.m. - Leake Central girls vs. Union
5:30 p.m. - Leake Central boys vs. Union
7 p.m. - Philadelphia girls vs. Morton
8:30 p.m. - Philadelphia boys vs. Morton
4 p.m. - Union girls vs. Morton
5:30 p.m. - Union boys vs. Morton
7 p.m. - Philadelphia girls vs. Leake Central
8:30 p.m. - Philadelphia boys vs. Leake Central
The Lady Tornadoes picked up two victories last week as they defeated Kosciusko 47-34 and Noxapater 50-33. The Philadelphia girls enter the week with a 7-3 record.
The Tornadoes split their games. They took a 65-54 win over Kosciusko and then dropped a 47-41 decision to Noxapater.
Philadelphia has four games this week. In addition to their three tournament games, they were to play at Ridgeland on Tuesday.

Philadelphia led at halftime and then pulled away for the victory in their win over the Lady Whippets.
The Lady Tornadoes went up 17-14 at the half. Leading 28-21 going into the final stanza, Philadelphia outscored Kosciusko 19-13 to claim the win.
Precious Moore scored 18 points to lead Philadelphia while Latesha Carter added 15.
Philadelphia girls 50
The Lady Tornadoes took an early lead and held on for the win.
Philadelphia led 22-9 at the half, and then outscored Noxapater 20-13 in the third stanza to put the game away.
Tatyana Fox scored 14 points and had four steals to lead the Lady Tornadoes. Carter added 14 points and three rebounds while Moore scored eight points and had three steals. Isabella Fulton scored 10 points while Shaquencia Boler had 10 rebounds, Kaysun Greer added nine rebounds and Carter had eight rebounds.
Philadelphia boys 65
Kaleb Moore scored 21 points to lead the Philadelphia Tornadoes past Kosciusko last week.
Leading 19-16 at the end of the first quarter, the Tornadoes outscored the Whippets 24-14 in the second quarter to go up 43-30 at the half. The Tornadoes held on during the second half to claim the win.
Ricky Triplett added 11 points to the cause.
Philadelphia boys 41
The Tornadoes got behind early and couldn't catch the Tigers in their tournament on Saturday.
Philadelphia trailed 35-14 at the half. The Tornadoes outscored the Tigers 27-12 in the second half but couldn't catch them.
