The Philadelphia High School basketball teams wind down their regular season this week with two Region 5-3A games.

Philadelphia visits Kemper County on Tuesday night and closes out on the road at Newton High School. The Tornado teams will be competing in the Region 5-3A tournament next week which will be held at Southeast Lauderdale.

Last week, the Philadelphia boys dropped a 56-47 decision to Choctaw Central and a close 44-42 loss to Southeast Lauderdale. The Philadelphia girls lost 62-46 to Choctaw Central and 85-22 to Southeast Lauderdale.

Romon Gray led the Tornadoes with 19 points in their loss to the Choctaws. Choctaw Central outscored the Tornadoes 17-6 in the second quarter and that was the difference.

Southeast Lauderdale benefitted from the free throw line at the end of the first half and that proved to be the difference. Gray scored 14 points to lead the Tornadoes while Kaleb Moore added 11.

Precious Moore led the Lady Tornadoes with 19 points in Philadelphia's loss to Choctaw Central.
