The Philadelphia Tornadoes remained undefeated Friday night as they blew past Pelahatchie 68-36 in prep basketball action.

The Lady Tornadoes took a 63-47 win over Pelahatchie.

It was the only game of the week for Philadelphia. They will have three contests this week as they visit Morton on Tuesday and play two games in the Philadelphia Classic against Newton County on Friday and Leake Central on Saturday.

“We are going have a rough week,” Coach Willis Tullos said. “We are playing three good teams and they are going to test us. We’ll know a lot about our team after this week.”

Philadelphia led 36-25 at the half. They outscored the Chiefs 36-11 in the second half.

Zabin Hunter led the way with 15 points and 20 rebounds. Asher Morgan finished with 11 points while Nick Crocket scored 10. Jordan Hill and Jacobi York both scored nine points; Francisco Wilson scored four; Shermar Rush 3; and Dontae Harris and Ira Chambers both scored two.

“This team is coming together,” Coach Tullos said. “We have the talent. If we can put everything together, this could be a special team.”

The Lady Tornadoes put together a solid performance behind Andrika Carter’s 23 points as they were too much for Pelahatchie.

Leading 12-10 after the first quarter, the Lady Tornadoes outscored the Lady Chiefs 13-10 in the second quarter to post a 25-20 halftime lead.

Philadelphia hit the gas pedal in the third quarter, putting in 18 points to Pelahatchie’s 13. Philadelphia carried a 43-33 lead into the final quarter and held on for the victory.

Tyesha Cole added 18 points and Nia Luckett scored nine. The Lady Tornadoes entered the week with a 3-2 record.
