Soccer Rockets top West Lauderdale in shootout

The Neshoba Central Rockets defeated West Lauderdale 6-5 in a shootout last week in prep soccer action.
The game ended in a 5-5 tie and went to a shootout. Scoring goals for the Rockers were Dinnon Breazeale with three, Karim Mueller with two, Dalton Marshall, Taylor Irby and Preston Anderson, all with one.
The Rockets now stand at 3-1 on the season.
The Neshoba Central girls lost 7-0 to West Lauderdale and fell to 1-3.
The Rocket teams host Newton County on Tuesday.
The Lady Warriors are off to a 2-3 start on the young season. Last week, Choctaw Central dropped a 3-1 decision to McLaurin and then bounced back to defeat Kosciusko 5-2.
Robin Routh scored the Lady Warriors' only goal against McLaurin.
Jashaunique Steve scored three goals in the Lady Warriors win over Kosciusko while Routh added two goals.
The Choctaw Central boys lost 4-0 decisions to both McLaurin and Kosciusko.
Choctaw Central hosts Quitman on December 3.
The Philadelphia Tornadoes will get their season under way next week with three games.
They were to visit the Math School on Monday; host Louisville on Friday and then visit Neshoba Central on Saturday.
