Soccer Rockets sweep Newton County in two close games

The Neshoba Central Rockets swept a pair of games from Newton County Friday night in prep soccer action.
The Lady Rockets scored a 2-0 victory while the Neshoba Central boys bested the Cougars 1-0 in a shootout.
Cecily Kate Price and Sadie Kate Marshall both scored a goal and were credited with an assist in the Lady Rockets' victory. Kayla Roberson was the winning goalies.
The boys game ended in a 0-0 tie and went to a shootout which Neshoba Central won 4-3. Scoring in the shootout for the Rockets were Caleb Crenshaw, Jared Brister, Dalton Marshall and Tanner Smith.
Both Neshoba Central teams stand at 2-0 on the season.
The Rockets have two road games this week. They visit Kosciusko on Tuesday and Choctaw Central on Friday.
The Soccer Warriors have three games for this week. They were to host West Point on Tuesday, the Math School on Thursday and Neshoba Central on Friday.
Choctaw Central played two matches last week.
The Choctaw Central girls dropped a 3-1 decision to Northeast Lauderdale and defeated Quitman 4-1. Jashanninque scored all of the Lady Warriors' goals in both games. Choctaw Central now stands at 1-2 on the season.
The Choctaw Central boys lost 5-1 to Northeast Lauderdale and 4-1 one to Quitman. Evan Bell scored both of the Warriors goals in the two games. Choctaw Central drops to 0-3 on the season.
