The Neshoba Central boys soccer team has jumped off to a 6-0 start after winning a pair of games last week.

The Soccer Rockets defeated Clarkdale 7-2 and then stopped Louisville 4-2. The Neshoba Central girls went 1-1 and started the week with a 6-2 record. Neshoba Central dropped a 5-0 decision to Clarkdale but bounced back to beat Louisville 3-0.

The Rockets have three games scheduled for this week. They were to play Clarkdale again on Tuesday, host Kosciusko on Friday and then visit Newton County on Saturday.

Jared Brister scored three goals to lead the Rockets past Clarkdale. Tanner Salter, Chase McNair, Dalton Marshall and Taylor Irby all added one goal each. McNair added three assists while P.T. Anderson, Marshall and Irby all added one. Peyton Clark was the winning goalie.

Brister scored two goals in the Rockets' win over Louisville while J.T. Holley and Marshall both added one. Irby and McNair were both credited with two assists. Clark was the winning goalie.

Cecily Kate Price scored two goals and Sadie Kate Marshall added one to lead the Lady Rockets past Louisville. Madalyn McMahon had two assists and Mary Kate Collins had one. Kayla Roberson was the winning goalie.

Choctaw Central

The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors improved to 5-2 with a 3-1 win over Kosciusko last week.

A match with Northeast Lauderdale was rained out. The Choctaw Central boys, meanwhile, dropped a 5-0 decision to the Whippets.

Jashannique Steve scored two goals to lead the Lady Warriors while Allandra York added one goal. Precious Favre was the winning goalie.

The Warrior teams will host Southeast Lauderdale Thursday in the first district game of the season.


The Philadelphia High School girls soccer team started the season with 1-1 record.

The Lady Tornadoes dropped their opener to St. Aloysius but bounced back to beat Forest 5-0. The Tornadoes lost both to St. Aloysius 2-1 and to Forest. Gray Moorhead scored the Tornadoes' only goal.

The Tornadoes were to play Richland on Tuesday and then open district play at Clarkdale on Friday. Philadelphia plays at Newton County on Saturday.
