Philadelphia High School senior quarterback Lee Smith has been named the Offensive MVP in Region 5-3A.

The team was announced Wednesday by the Region 5-3A coaches.

Smith, a four-year starter, quarterbacked the Tornadoes to a 45-7 record and three district championships. During his senior year, Smith completed 70-of-123 passing attempts for 927 yards and 11 touchdowns. He was intercepted five times.

Southeast Lauderdale's Ladarious Clark was the Region's Overall Most Valuable Player for the region, while the Tigers' LaKelvin Newell was the Most Valuable Defensive Player.

Three other Tornado players received top recognition in their position. Tamario Talley was the Best Offensive Lineman and Dustin Sullivan was the Best Defensive Player. Latimer Smith was honored as the Best Kicker and Best Punter.

Kemper County's Devonta Pollard was voted as the Best Receiver while Milon Roberts was named the Best Offensive Back. Nick Giles was named the Best Defensive Back.

Heidelberg's Kendrick Nixon was voted the Best Linebacker, while J.J. Brown was named the Best Returner. The Heidelberg High School Coaching Staff shared "Coach of the Year" honors.

First team All-Region honors went to the following players:

Philadelphia - Doug Taylor, Keaton Lang, Caleb Gamblin, Tevante Houston, Anthony Triplett, Montreal Jordan, Romon Gray and Abe Mars;

Kemper County - Trenard Rush and Jaquan Craig;

Southeast Lauderdale - Johntre Goudy, Jacob Fraysur, Shane Mitchell, Colby Ramey, Desmond Griggs and Jagradi Webster.

Heidelberg High - Demonte Morgan, Derrick Moffett, Kevin Jourdan, Byran Jackson and Richardo Craft.

Newton High - Junior Watts, Chris Turner, Dekarion Beasley and Lekendrick Griffin;

Choctaw Central - Magael Cruz.

Second team honors went to the following players:

Philadelphia - Mark Hughes, Kaleb Moore, Fent Mars, Pat Conner, Medgal Peebles, Malek Moore, Marquise Matthews, Aaron McCarty and Tevin McNair;

Kemper County - Anthony Ruffin, Josh McClelland, Willie McCray, Givante Oliver, Rashard Simmons and Zac Cole;

Southeast Lauderdale - Ian Gibson, Johnny Blanks, C.J. Scott and Jaquinton Horner;

Heidelberg - Malik Porter, Tyran Stevens and Mitchell McFarland;

Newton High - Mitchell Hardy and Roderick Young; and, Choctaw Central - Alex Lacy.
