The Union boys are looking to rebound after dropping their first Region 5-2A game of the season.

The Yellowjackets fell 73-46 to Scott Central last Tuesday.

They came back to beat Clarkdale 70-41.

The Yellowjackets entered the week with a 13-6 overall record and 6-1 in the region standings.

The Lady Yellowjackets also split their two games.

Union lost 66-48 to Scott Central and came back to best Clarkdale 62-41.

Union was to visit Lake for their only region game of the week.

The Yellowjackets are off Friday night but visit Newton County on Saturday.

"Scott Central really took it to us," Union boys coach Scott Thomas said. "We didn't play well. We'll get to play them again."

Scott Central jumped out to a 14-4 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Rebels outscored Union 22-15 in the second quarter and posted a 36-19 halftime lead.

The Rebels kept up that pace in the second half as well.

Jesse Gill led Union with 12 points while Quinton Thomas added 11.

The Yellowjackets really turned it on in the second quarter of their game with Clarkdale.

The score was tied at 10-10 after the first quarter.

Union outscored the Bulldogs 21-9 in the second quarter to post a 31-19 halftime lead.

Union then put in 24 points in the third quarter while holding Clarkdale to 11 and that assured the victory.

Adrian Campbell led Union with 18 points while Quinton Campbell added 13 and Tre Bogan scored nine points.

Scott Central led 26-11 in its game with Union girls and never looked back.

Kia Rogers led Union with 14 points while Kimmaria Jackson scored 10.

Union scored 29 points in the fourth quarter against Clarkdale to put the game away.

The Union girls now stand at 12-8.
