The Neshoba Central Rockets have a big weekend facing them as they host both Madison Central and West Lauderdale Saturday.

The Rockets also start region play as they play Canton in a pair of games. Neshoba Central was to host Canton on Tuesday and visit the Tigers on Friday.

There are three games scheduled for Saturday. The Rockets play host to Madison Central starting at 11 a.m. Afterward, West Lauderdale plays Madison Central. And at 4 p.m., Neshoba Central renews its rivalry with West Lauderdale.

"It's going to be a big week," Rockets Coach Justin Stovall said. "We play our region games during the week and then face two talented teams on Saturday."

It will be Neshoba Central's second game with Madison Central in recent weeks. In the first game, the Rockets took an 11-1 victory.

Neshoba Central entered the week with a 7-1 record after winning three games last week in the spring touchdown at Q.V. Sykes Field in Meridian. The Rockets defeated Enterprise 7-1; Southeast Lauderdale 5-1; and, Quitman 10-8.

Neshoba Central came on in the late innings to top Enterprise. The Rockets scored four in the fifth and three in the seventh. Enterprise scored its run in the first inning.

Zack Whittle was the winning pitcher with eight strike outs. John Carr Bates led the way with two singles while Peyton Clark and Caleb Crenshaw both added a double. Joseph Willis, Drew Coats, Chase McNair and Brady Stephenson all hit a single.

The Rockets pounded out seven hits in their win over Southeast Lauderdale. Coats had four strike outs and was the winning pitcher. Brandon Clark led the way with a double while Bates, Crenshaw, Austin Harrison and Chase McNair all added a single.

The Rockets closed out the week with a win over Quitman. Tanner Salter was the winning pitcher while Ryan Montgomery picked up the save. Harrison had a double and a single while Joseph Willis, Coats and K.J. Moore all hit a single.
