The Neshoba Central Rockets saw an early lead fade away as they dropped a 40-14 decision to Northeast Lauderdale in prep football action Friday night.

The Rockets, now 0-4, will be open this week. They travel to play Pearl High School on September 27. The 2-2 Trojans host Lamar School this Friday.

Trailing 6-0 in the first quarter, the Rockets got on the scoreboard when Damien Seales scored on an eight-yard run. Patrick Burrage scored the two-point conversion and the Rockets led 8-6.

The Trojans went on to score 20 unanswered points and led 26-8 at the half. The third quarter went scoreless.

Then Neshoba Central scored again when Kavanta McCarty ran into the end zone. The extra point try was no good.

The Trojans would score two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.

The Rockets finished the night with 250 yards rushing and 43 passing for 293 total yards.

McCarty was the leading rusher with 99 yards on 15 carries while Burrage added 82 yards on 16 carries. D.J. Hoskins added 47 yards and Seales had 22 yards.

Jordan Horne and Cole Hodgins led the Rockets in tackles with 10. Ken Edwards added nine tackles.
