The Neshoba Central Rockets stayed Ridgeland for a half but then mistakes proved to be their downfall as they dropped a 37-13 decision in prep football action.

"We were in the game but then we had turnovers and they pulled away," Neshoba Central Coach Chuck Friend said. "We are just so young right now. But the kids are staying with it and practicing hard. We are trying to get better,"

Neshoba Central will play at Lanier Thursday night. The game starts at 7 p.m. and will be held at Newell Field. Both teams will be looking for their first win.

Patrick Burrage scored both of Neshoba Central's touchdowns. He scored the first on a 24-yard run and the second on a four-yard run. Burrage finished the game with 189 rushing yards on 38 carries.

The Rockets finished with 278 yards rushing and 18 passing for 296 total yards.

Devin Skinner led the team in tackles with 11. Cristian Steele, Aquil Hickman and Ken Edwards all had eight tackles. Edwards had a quarterback sack.
