The Leake Academy Rebelettes improved to 18-0 with a pair of road victories last week in prep basketball action.

The Rebelettes downed Simpson Academy 63-34 and then stopped district rival Winston Academy 44-35. Leake Academy's boys team dropped a 68-65 overtime decision to Simpson Academy but bounced back to top Winston Academy 75-41,

Mary Grace Key scored 19 points and Anna Evans added 18 as the Rebelettes rolled over Simpson Academy. Leake Academy led 37-14 at the half.

The next night, the Rebelettes found themselves trailing 18-11 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter turned into a defensive struggle with the Rebelettes outscoring Winston 3-1. Winston led 19-14 at the half. Leake Academy turned things around in the third quarter, outscoring Winston 16-5. Leading 28-26 heading into the final quarter, the Rebelettes put in 14 points while holding Winston Academy to 11 points. Katie Webb led with 13 points and Key added 12.

Simpson outscored Leake Academy 7-4 in the overtime period to claim the victory. The score was tied at 61-61 when regulation ended and the two teams went into overtime. Alex Shepard scored 24 points to lead the Rebels while Brandon Johnson added 20.

The Rebels' game with Winston was an up-and-down affair in the first half. The Patriots led 19-9 at the end of the first quarter. Leake Academy bounced back to outscore the home team 30-10 and led 39-29 at the half. From that point, Leake Academy outscored Winston 36-12 in the second half to ice the win. Shepard scored 24 points and Chipper Jones added 20.

The Rebels stand at 10-3.

Leake Academy will be back in action Friday when they play in the Simpson Academy tournament. Both teams will play Hillcrest with the boys game starting at 5:45 p.m. and the girls following at 7 p.m.
