Rebelettes going for third straight fast-pitch crown

Weather permitting, the Leake Academy Rebelettes will be battling for their third straight Mississippi Independent Schools Association Class AA fast-pitch softball championship Wednesday at Liberty Park in Flowood.
The Rebelettes opened tournament play with a 6-0 victory over Columbia Academy Saturday. The rest of the tournament was postponed because of rain and is expected to resume Wednesday.
The Rebelettes are slated to play Sylva-Bay in the second round of the double-elimination tournament, starting at 9 a.m. The winner of that game will play the winner of Silliman Institute-Canton Academy in the semifinals, which are slated for 2:30 p.m. This is a double-elimination tournament. The finals are slated for 7:30 p.m.
The Rebelettes improved to 24-1 Saturday with their win over Columbia Academy. Leake Academy scored one in the first, one in the second and four in the sixth.
Senior Hannah Moore pitched a perfect game, striking out 16 batters.
The Rebelettes pounded out 10 hits. Mariallen Moore had three hits to lead the Rebelettes, while Mary Grace Key added two singles and Katie Wells hit a double.
