The Philadelphia Lady Tornadoes entered this week with a 7-7 record as they prepare for their tough Region 5-3A schedule.
The Lady Tornadoes went 0-4 last week but coach Pashen Autry said they played in some tough games that should help them down the road.
"We are about where I thought we would be," Autry said. "We have young players who are learning their roles. We wanted to play the best competition we could to give them a chance learn and get experience."
The Lady Tornadoes started the week with a 40-30 loss to Ridgeland. They then dropped a 38-33 decision to Union in the first round of the Philadelphia Invitational. The Lady Tornadoes also lost 65-32 to Leake Central and 36-34 to Morton.
It was pretty much the same for the Philadelphia boys who went 0-4 last week.
"We are playing people close," coach Jason Broome said. "We'll be in the game and then we'll have some sort of lapse, a key mistake or a missed free throw. We are improving and if we can avoid the big mistakes, we can win some games."
The Tornadoes dropped a 43-32 decision to Ridgeland. Then in the Philadelphia Tournament, they lost 65-63 to Union; 59-51 to Morton and 47-42 to Leake Central.
Both Philadelphia teams were to host Choctaw Central Tuesday in a Region 5-3A game. They were to travel to Ridgeland on Friday for a tournament game with Yazoo County.
