Neshoba Central split a pair of basketball games at Northeast Lauderdale last Monday.

The Rockets took a 70-42 win over the Trojans while the Neshoba Central lost a 40-38 decision.

Neshoba Central dominated the first half in its win over Northeast Lauderdale. Leading 22-12 after the first quarter, the Rockets outscored the Trojans 22-11 in the second quarter to go up 44-23 at the half. The third quarter was close but then the Rockets held the Trojans to two points in the final stanza while putting in 14 points. Gary Willis scored 19 points to lead the Rockets while TJ Ben added 14 points, Bobby Anderson scored 12 points and Christian Mingo scored 11 points.

The Northeast Lauderdale girls led 23-18 at the half in their game with the Lady Rockets. Neshoba Central outscored Northeast Lauderdale 20-17 in the second half but fell two points short. Coach Fred Morris said turnovers were a factor in this game.

Relissa Ray led the Lady Rockets with 12 points while Andria Carter added seven points.

The Neshoba Central boys go into the holidays with an 11-1 record while the Lady Rockets stand at 7-6. Both teams will play in the New Hope shoot-out on Saturday, January 4.
