Neshoba Central completed a sweep of Kosciusko last week in the only prep basketball action seen by the Rocket teams.

The Neshoba Central boys improved to 7-0 with a 69-62 win over the Whippets while the Lady Rockets took a 45-26 victory.

Neshoba Central has two games this week. They were to host Choctaw Central on Tuesday and then take on Philadelphia Saturday in the Tornadoes' invitational. A Friday game in the invitational has been apparently canceled because of a scheduling conflict.

And at this point in the season, both coaches feel their teams are headed in the right direction.

"We beat a good team," Rockets Coach Jerry Byrd said. "We played better in the second quarter and good things going. The kids worked hard and stayed after them."

Kosciusko went up 16-11 by the end of the first quarter. Neshoba Central battled back, outscoring the Whippets 25-14 in the second quarter, and took a 36-30 lead at the half. Neshoba Central had a 33-32 scoring edge in the second half.

Gary Willis led the Rockets with 22 points while TJ Ben added 14.

Leading 8-3 after the first quarter, the Lady Rockets outscored Kosciusko 12-3 in the second quarter and took a 20-6 halftime lead. After a close third quarter, the Lady Rockets outscored the Lady Whippets 14-8 in the fourth quarter to put the game away."

Danisha Marshall led the Lady Rockets with 10 points while Hannah Williams and Kaylee Routh both had eight points.

"We are showing improvement," Coach Fred Morris said after his team improved to 3-3. "They are working hard and making progress."
