The Union Lady Yellowjackets won two out of three contests this past week on the softball diamond.

Union swept a doubleheader from McAdams, blasting the Lady Bulldogs 19-0 and 15-0. They lost a 6-3 decision to Lake on Monday to start out the week.

Union, now 9-6, will play at Southeast Lauderdale on Monday and then play at Ethel on Tuesday. Union will finish out the week with a Thursday game at French Camp.

The Lady Yellowjackets needed just 2 1/2 innings to take a run-rule win over the Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday.

Union scored three runs in the first and 12 runs in the second inning. 

Union had 18 hits in the contest. Hannah Tate was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs. Alanee Wheeler was 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored. Tiara Campbell was 2-for-2 with a double, triple, two runs scored and two RBIs. Britley Milling was 2-for-2 and had three RBIs. Carsyn Capps was 2-for-2 while Rymia Craft was 2-for-2 with two runs scored. 

Wheeler picked up the win on the mound for Union, giving up just one hit and striking out two.

The Lady Yellowjackets scored 15 runs in the first inning and took a run-rule win in the first game of the doubleheader on Tuesday.

Union added four runs in the second inning and didn’t allow a hit.

Union had 22 hits on the day with seven extra base hits. McKenlee McDaniel was 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Britli Cleveland was 2-for-2 and scored two runs while Britley Milling was 2-for-2. D.D. Hunter was 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored. Kaydon Lee was 2-for-2 while Dallas Brown had a three-run home run and DaShayla Jackson had a solo home run. Abbie Jenkins had a double and two RBIs while Jordan Turner also had a double. Kenley Pullin and Anna Grace Blount also scored two runs apiece.

McDaniel pitched all three innings for Union and didn’t allow a hit and struck out two.



Lake 6

In a battle of Class 2A powers, Lake was able to pull away late for the win.

Lake led 2-1 after two innings and each team scored a single run in the fifth inning. Lake pulled away with three runs in the top of the seventh while Union added one in the bottom of the inning.

Lake outhit Union 14-12 in the contest.

Anna Grace Blount was 3-for-3 to lead Union while Kayleigh Vance was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs. Dallas Brown was 2-for-4 while Britli Cleveland was 2-for-2. Kenley Pullen singled and scored a run while Tiara Campbell also doubled.

McKenlee McDaniel pitched all seven inning for Union.
