The Choctaw Central Lady Warriors picked up a pair of victories last week during the Spring Fling Fast-Pitch Softball tournament in Meridian.

The Lady Warriors defeated Northwest Rankin 5-3 and then knocked off Clinton 5-2. They enter the week with an 8-3 record.

"We are playing better," Coach Aaron Terrell said. "We are heading into our region schedule and this is where we need to be."

The Lady Warriors were to host Southeast Lauderdale in a region game Tuesday. They host Nanih Waiya on Thursday and play two games at home on Saturday, taking on Scott Central and Kosciusko.

Betty Mingo was the winning pitcher in both of last week's victories.

The Lady Warriors scored two runs in the seventh and pulled out a win over Northwest Rankin. Raina King and Jada Sockey both had a double and a single while Darien Tubby added two singles.

Raina King hit a home run in Choctaw Central's win over Clinton. The Lady Warriors scored two in the first and three in the fifth. Sockey added a double and Brooklyn Bell had a single.
